Assembly Concurrent Resolution No. 59—Relative to Constitution Week.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL’S DIGEST

ACR 59, as amended, Waldron. Constitution Week.

This measure would proclaim the week of September 17 through 22, 2013, as Constitution Week and urge California citizens to reaffirm the ideals of the framers of the Constitution of 1787 by vigilantly protecting the freedoms guaranteed to us through this guardian of our liberties, remembering that lost rights might never be regained.

P2    1WHEREAS, The Constitution of the United States of America,
2the guardian of our liberties, embodies the principles of limited
3government in a republic dedicated to the rule of law; and

4WHEREAS, September 17, 2013, will mark the 226th
5anniversary of the framing of the Constitution of the United States
6of America by the Constitutional Convention; and

7WHEREAS, Public Law 915 guarantees the issuing of a
8proclamation each year by the President of the United States of
9America designating September 17 through 22 as Constitution
10Week; and

11WHEREAS, It is fitting and proper to accord official recognition
12to this magnificent document and its memorable anniversary, and
13to the patriotic celebrations which will commemorate the occasion;
14now, therefore, be it

15Resolved by the Assembly of the State of California, the Senate
16thereof concurring,
That the Legislature proclaims the week of
17September 17 through 22, 2013, as Constitution Week and urges
18all Californians to reaffirm the ideals of the framers of the
19Constitution of 1787 by vigilantly protecting the freedoms
20guaranteed to us through this guardian of our liberties,
21remembering that lost rights might never be regained; and be it
22further

23Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly transmit copies
24of this resolution to the author for appropriate distribution.
