An act to add Section 5011.6 to the Public Resources Code, relating to state parks.

Existing law requires certain veterans of a war in which the United States is or has been engaged, upon application and presentation to the Department of Parks and Recreation of certain proof,begin delete such asend deletebegin insert includingend insert proof of a disability orbegin insert proofend insert of being held captive as a prisoner of war, to be issued a pass entitling the bearerbegin delete toend delete use all facilities, including boat launching facilities, in units of the state park system.

This bill would requirebegin delete anyend deletebegin insert aend insert veteran ofbegin delete suchend delete a war who was honorably discharged, orbegin delete aend delete current active dutybegin delete soliderend deletebegin insert military personnelend insert for the United States Armed Forces,begin delete upon application,end delete to bebegin delete issued a pass entitling the bearer of the pass to theend deletebegin insert entitled to dayend insert use of any unit of the state park system on Memorial Day and Veterans Day if certain conditions are met, including that proper proof is supplied.begin delete If the veteran or active duty soldier enters the park in a vehicle, the bill would require all occupants in the vehicle to have their entrance fee waived.end delete
