An act to amend Section 25781 of the Public Resources Code, relating to energy.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL’S DIGEST

AB 190, as introduced, Buchanan. Electricity: solar energy systems.

Under existing law, the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) has regulatory authority over public utilities, including electrical corporations. The PUC adopted the California Solar Initiative. Under existing law “kWh” means kilowatthours, as measured by the number of kilowatts generated in one hour.

This bill would make a nonsubstantive change to that provision.

Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.  

Section 25781 of the Public Resources Code is
2amended to read:

25781.  

As used in this chapter, the following terms have the
4following meanings:

5(a) “California Solar Initiative” means the program providing
6ratepayer funded incentives for eligible solar energy systems
7adopted by the Public Utilities Commission in Decision 06-01-024.

P2    1(b) “kW” means kilowatts or 1,000 watts, as measured from the
2alternating current side of the solar energy system inverter
3consistent with Section 223 of Title 15 of the United States Code.

4(c) “kWh” means kilowatthours, as measured by the number of
5kilowatts generated inbegin delete anend deletebegin insert oneend insert hour.

6(d) “MW” means megawatts or 1,000,000 watts.

7(e) “Solar energy system” means a solar energy device that has
8the primary purpose of providing for the collection and distribution
9of solar energy for the generation of electricity, that produces at
10least one kW, and not more than five MW, alternating current rated
11peak electricity, and that meets or exceeds the eligibility criteria
12established pursuant to Section 25782.
