           SUMMARY  

          This bill requires the California Department of Corrections and  
          Rehabilitation (CDCR) to include in the Strategic Offender  
          Management System (SOMS), or any other successor system,  
          information regarding restitution fines and orders for inmates  
          within its jurisdiction.   

           FISCAL EFFECT  

          This bill is consistent with CDCR's current policies through  
          SOMS and the Trust, Restitution Accounting and Canteen System  
          (TRACS).  

          The author may wish to amend the bill to ensure the department  
          is not required to make unnecessary adjustments to SOMS because  
          the bill refers only to SOMS or successor systems when CDCR also  
          uses TRACS.  

           COMMENTS  

           Rationale  . The author's intent is to ensure CDCR is tracking and  
          providing data to make tracking court-ordered restitution orders  
          and payments more efficient and effective.
