An act to amend Section 72670 of the Education Code, relating to postsecondary education.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL’S DIGEST

AB 445, as introduced, Chávez. Community colleges: governing boards: auxiliary organizations.

Existing law authorizes the governing board of a community college district to establish auxiliary organizations, as defined, for the purpose of providing supportive services and specialized programs for the benefit of its college or colleges.

This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to these provisions.

Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.  

Section 72670 of the Education Code is amended
2to read:

72670.  

The governing board of a community college district
4may establish auxiliary organizations for the purpose of providing
5supportive services and specialized programs for the general benefit
6of its college or colleges. As used in this article, “auxiliary
7organization” may include, but is not limited to, the following
8entities:

2college district participates as a director as part of his or her official

7the benefit of a community college or district on a campus or other
8property of the district.

10substance both of the following:

11(1) Its purpose is to promote or assist a community college or
12district, or to receive gifts, property and funds to be used for the
13benefit of the community college or district orbegin delete anyend deletebegin insert aend insert person or
14organization having an official relationshipbegin delete therewithend deletebegin insert with the
15community college or districtend insert
.

16(2) Any of its directors, governors, or trustees are either
17appointed or nominated by, or subject to, the approval of the
18governing board of the district, an official of the district, or
19selected, ex officio, from the membership of the student body or
20the faculty or the governing board or the administrative staff of
21the district.
