   An act to amend Section 24304.2 of the Government Code, relating
to local government.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   AB 546, Stone. Local government: consolidation of offices.
   Existing law authorizes the board of supervisors in Mendocino
County, Sonoma County, Trinity County, and Tulare County to
consolidate the duties of the offices of Auditor-Controller and
Treasurer-Tax Collector into the elected office of
Auditor-Controller-Treasurer-Tax Collector.
   This bill would additionally authorize the board of supervisors in
Santa Cruz County to consolidate the duties of the offices of
Auditor-Controller and Treasurer-Tax Collector into the elected
office of Auditor-Controller-Treasurer-Tax Collector.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  Section 24304.2 of the Government Code is amended to
read:
   24304.2.  Notwithstanding Section 24300, in Mendocino County,
Santa Cruz County, Sonoma County, Trinity County, and Tulare County,
the board of supervisors, by ordinance, may consolidate the duties of
the offices of Auditor-Controller and Treasurer-Tax Collector into
the elected office of Auditor-Controller-Treasurer-Tax Collector.
