An act to amend Section 66700 of the Education Code, relating to community colleges.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL’S DIGEST

AB 586, as introduced, Fox. Community colleges.

Existing law establishes the California Community Colleges, under the administration of the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges, as a part of the state’s public school system and as one of the state’s segments of public postsecondary education.

This bill would make a nonsubstantive change in the provision that specifies that the California Community Colleges are postsecondary schools that are part of the public school system of the state.

Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.  

Section 66700 of the Education Code is amended

The California Community Colleges are postsecondary
4schoolsbegin insert,end insert and shall continue to be a part of the public school system
5of this state. The Board of Governors of the California Community
6Colleges shall prescribe minimum standards for the formation and

2general supervision over the California Community Colleges.
