AB 722, as introduced, Lowenthal. Vehicles: driver’s licenses: medical examinations.
Existing law requires applicants for an original or renewal certificate to drive a schoolbus, school pupil activity bus, youth bus, general public paratransit vehicle, or farm labor vehicle to submit a report, on a form approved by the department, of a medical examination of the applicant given not more than 2 years prior to the date of the application by a physician licensed to practice medicine, a licensed advanced practice registered nurse qualified to perform a medical examination, or a licensed physician assistant.
This bill would add a doctor of chiropractic to the list of persons who may make a report of a medical examination of the specified applicants.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
Section 12517.2 of the Vehicle Code is amended
2to read:
(a) Applicants for an original or renewal certificate
4to drive a schoolbus, school pupil activity bus, youth bus, general

2report of a medical examination of the applicant given not more
3than two years prior to the date of the application by a physician
4licensed to practice medicine, a licensed advanced practice

7The report shall be on a form approved by the
department.
8(b) Schoolbus drivers, within the same month of reaching 65
9years of age and each 12th month thereafter, shall undergo a
10medical examination, pursuant to Section 12804.9, and shall submit
11a report of that medical examination on a form as specified in
12subdivision (a).
