AB 808, as introduced, Fong. Medical Board of California: responsibility.
The Medical Practice Act provides for the licensure and regulation of physicians and surgeons by the Medical Board of California, and specifies the board’s responsibilities in this regard.
This bill would make a technical, nonsubstantive change to that provision.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
Section 2004 of the Business and Professions
2Code is amended to read:
The board shall have the responsibility forbegin insert all ofend insert the
4following:
5(a) The enforcement of the disciplinary and criminal provisions
6of the Medical Practice Act.
7(b) The administration and hearing of disciplinary actions.
8(c) Carrying out disciplinary actions appropriate to findings
9made by a panel or an administrative law judge.
P2 1(d) Suspending, revoking, or otherwise limiting certificates after
2the conclusion of disciplinary actions.
3(e) Reviewing the quality of medical practice carried out by
4physician and surgeon certificate holders under the jurisdiction of
5the board.
6(f) Approving undergraduate and graduate medical education
7programs.
8(g) Approving clinical clerkship and special programs and
9hospitals for the programs in subdivision (f).
10(h) Issuing licenses and certificates under the board’s
11jurisdiction.
12(i) Administering the board’s continuing medical education
13program.
