AB 835, as introduced, Muratsuchi. Certificated school employees: permanent status.
Existing law provides that a certificated employee of a school district with an average daily attendance of 250 or more who is employed for 2 complete consecutive school years and who is reelected for the next succeeding school year is required to be classified as a permanent employee, and provides for specified notice requirements in that regard.
This bill would delete obsolete provisions and would make other nonsubstantive changes.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
Section 44929.21 of the Education Code is
2amended to read:
(a) Every employee of a school district of any type
4or class having an average daily attendance of 250 or more who,
5after having been employed by the district for three complete
6consecutive school years in a position or positions requiring
7certification qualifications, is reelected for the next succeeding
P2 1school year to a position requiring certification qualifications shall,
2at the commencement of the succeeding school year be classified
3as and become a permanent employee of the district.
4This subdivision shall apply only to probationary employees
5whose probationary period commenced prior to the 1983-84 fiscal
6year.
