An act to amend Section 27421 of the Government Code, relating to county assessors.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL’S DIGEST

AB 846, as introduced, Achadjian. County assessors: duties.

Existing law requires the county assessor in each county who is designated to perform the duty of assessing property for a local taxing jurisdiction to provide an estimate of the assessed valuation of property within the jurisdiction, as specified.

This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to those provisions.

Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.  

Section 27421 of the Government Code is

27421.  

The county assessor in each county who is designated
4to perform the duty of assessing property for a local taxing
5jurisdiction shall, upon request of the governing body ofbegin delete suchend deletebegin insert thatend insert
6 jurisdiction, excluding a school district,begin delete furnishend deletebegin insert provideend insert not later
7than May 15th of each year an estimate of the assessed valuation
8of property withinbegin delete suchend deletebegin insert thatend insert jurisdiction for thebegin delete succeedingend deletebegin insert nextend insert
9 fiscal year. Such request shall be made on or before February 20th

2of the total of each of the items contained on the assessment roll
3as well as the estimated total valuation.
