An act to add Section 8565.5 to the Government Code, relating to emergency services.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL’S DIGEST

AB 1298, as introduced, Beth Gaines. California Emergency Technology Guard.

Existing law authorizes the Governor to establish a committee or board composed of the heads of state agencies, if he or she deems it necessary, to obtain information, advice, or assistance in developing or carrying out a plan to respond to an emergency.

This bill would authorize the Governor to establish a California Emergency Technology Guard, comprised of volunteers with expertise in science and technology, to assist the state and local governments in preparing for and responding to damage to vital information and communications systems during an emergency.

Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: yes. State-mandated local program: no.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.  

Section 8565.5 is added to the Government Code,

The Governor may establish a California Emergency
4Technology Guard to assist the state and local governments in

2Emergency Technology Guard may consist of volunteers with
