An act to amend Section 51221 of the Education Code, relating to pupil instruction.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL’S DIGEST

AB 1599, as introduced, Buchanan. Pupil instruction: courses of study: grades 7 to 12.

Existing law establishes a system of public elementary and secondary schools in this state, and authorizes local educational agencies to provide instruction at these schools throughout the state. Existing law provides for an adopted course of study for pupils in grades 7 to 12, inclusive, and specifies the areas of study in which courses are offered.

This bill would make a nonsubstantive change in a provision related to social sciences, which is one of the required areas of study.

Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no.
