An act to add Section 3007.05 to the Penal Code, relating to prisoners.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL’S DIGEST

AB 2308, as amended, Stone. Prisoners: identification cards.

Existing law authorizes the Department of Motor Vehicles to issue an identification card to a person attesting to the true full name, correct age, and other identifying data as certified by the applicant for the identification card.

This bill would require the Department of Corrections and the Department of Motor Vehicles to ensure that all eligible inmates released from state prisons have valid identification cards.

Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: yes. State-mandated local program: no.
