LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
AB 2436, as introduced, Bonta. Literacy.
Existing law establishes the California Library Literacy and
English Acquisition Services Program within the California State
Library to reduce illiteracy among children and adults by providing
English language literacy instruction and related services to native
and nonnative English speaking youth and adults residing in
California.
This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation relating to literacy rate improvement in California.
Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation relating to literacy rate improvement in California.
