   An act to amend Sections 4615 and 4620 of the Business and
Professions Code, relating to massage therapy.

   AB 2739, as introduced, Committee on Business, Professions and
Consumer Protection. Massage therapy.
   Existing law requires the California Massage Therapy Council, a
nonprofit organization, to issue a certificate as a massage therapist
or massage practitioner to an applicant who satisfies all the
requirements, as specified. Under existing law, these and related
provisions remain in effect only until January 1, 2015, and are
subject to review by the Joint Sunset Review Committee of the
Legislature, as specified.
   This bill would extend the operation of those provisions until
January 1, 2019, and make those provisions subject to review by the
appropriate policy committees of the Legislature.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: yes.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  Section 4615 of the Business and Professions Code is
amended to read:
   4615.  This chapter shall be subject to  the 
review  required by Article 7.5 (commencing with Section
9147.7) of Chapter 1.5 of Part 1 of Division 2 of the Government Code
  by the appropriate policy committees of the
Legislature  .
  SEC. 2.  Section 4620 of the Business and Professions Code is
amended to read:
   4620.  This chapter shall remain in effect only until January 1,
 2015,   2019,  and as of that date is
repealed, unless a later enacted statute, that is enacted before
January 1,  2015,   2019,  deletes or
extends that date.
