Existing law prescribes specified qualifications for a person to hold the office of public defender.
This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to that provision.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
Section 27701 of the Government Code is
2amended to read:
A person is not eligible tobegin insert holdend insert the office of public
4defender unless hebegin insert or sheend insert has been a practicing attorney in all of
5the courts ofbegin delete the Stateend deletebegin insert this stateend insert for at least the year preceding the
6date of hisbegin insert or herend insert election or appointment.
