Existing provisions of the California Constitution establish the University of California as a public trust under the administration of the Regents of the University of California. The University of California system includes 10 campuses, which are located in Berkeley, Davis, Irvine, Los Angeles, Merced, Riverside, San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, and Santa Cruz.
This bill wouldbegin insert annuallyend insert appropriate $15,000,000 from the General Fund to the Regents of the University of California for allocationbegin delete, without regard to fiscal year,end delete to the School of Medicine at the University of California, Riverside.
This bill would declare that it is to take effect immediately as an urgency statute.

This act is an urgency statute necessary for the
7immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety within
8the meaning of Article IV of the Constitution and shall go into
9immediate effect. The facts constituting the necessity are:
10In order to provide crucial funding to launch the vital health care
11mission of the School of Medicine at the University of California,
12Riverside, it is necessary that this act take effect immediately.
