           SUMMARY  

          This measure designates, as the "Soledad State Prison  
          Correctional Officers Memorial Highway," the portion of State  
          Route 101 between mile posts 64.63 and 69.37 in Monterey County.

           FISCAL EFFECT  

          Minor State Highway Account costs to Caltrans to make and erect  
          appropriate signs; these costs are fully covered by donations.

           COMMENTS  

           Purpose  . This measure honors Soledad State Prison Correctional  
          Officers John V. Mills, William C. Shull, Robert J. McCarthy,  
          and Kenneth E. Conant, all of whom were attacked and killed at  
          Soledad prison in separate incidents between January 1970 and  
          May 1971.
