SENATE VOTE : 37-0
SUBJECT : Motorcycle Awareness Month.
SUMMARY : Proclaims May 2013 as Motorcycle Awareness Month.
Specifically, this resolution makes the following legislative
findings:
1)In 1987, the State of California initiated a statewide,
multifaceted motorcycle safety program designed to promote
safety through the education and training of novice motorcycle
riders.
2)Beginning in 2008, the California Highway Patrol partnered
with public and private motorcycle safety stakeholder
organizations to develop a comprehensive effort to address a
steep, 10-year increase in motorcycle fatalities and injuries
on the state's roadways.
3)During the month of May, the California Motorcyclist Safety
Program, the California Highway Patrol, and national, state,
and local motorcycle safety organizations will join together
in an effort to increase awareness by motorcyclists and
motorists of the need to coexist in California's roadways.
