SENATE VOTE : 35-0
SUBJECT : California Agriculture Day.
SUMMARY : Recognizes the week of March 23, 2014, to March 29,
2013, inclusive, as National Agriculture Week, and designates
March 19, 2014, as California Agriculture Day. Specifically,
this resolution makes the following legislative findings:
1)For more than 60 consecutive years, California has been the
number one agricultural state in the nation, producing more
than 400 crop and livestock products and accounting for 50
percent of the nation's supply of fruits, vegetable, and nuts.
2)California is the nation's leader in agricultural exports,
shipping more than $16 billion worth of food and agricultural
commodities around the world.
3)The 2014 theme of California Agriculture Day is "Common
Ground: Celebration, Innovation, Education" in recognition of
the diversity and significance of California agriculture
through training students for agricultural careers, developing
new and innovative technologies, and continuing the
award-winning and globally recognized California educational
institutions.
4)March 10, 2014, is designated as California Agriculture Day, a
day of celebration to commemorate agriculture's importance in
our daily lives, its vital role in keeping Californians
nourished, and its role in keeping the state's economy ranked
as the ninth largest in the world.
