The County Employees Retirement Act of 1937 prescribes the rights, benefits, and duties of members of the retirement systems established pursuant to its provisions.
This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to a provision of the County Employees’ Retirement law.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
Section 31451 of the Government Code is
2amended to read:
The purpose of this chapter is to recognize a public
4obligation to county and district employees who become
5incapacitated by age or long service in public employment and its
6accompanying physical disabilitiesbegin insert,end insert bybegin delete making provisionend deletebegin insert providingend insert
7 for retirement compensation and death benefit as additional
8elements of compensation for future servicesbegin insert,end insert and to provide a
9means by which public employees who become
incapacitated may
10be replaced by more capable employees to the betterment of the
P2 1public servicebegin insert,end insert without prejudice and without inflictingbegin delete aend delete hardship
2upon the employees removed.
