An act relating to the payment of claims against the state, making an appropriation therefor, and declaring the urgency thereof, to take effect immediately.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.  

The sum of ____ ($____) is hereby appropriated
2from the General Fund to the Attorney General to pay for the
3judgment in the case of ____.

4Any funds appropriated in excess of the amounts actually
5required for the payment of this judgment shall revert to the
6General Fund on June 30 of the fiscal year in which the final
7payment is made.

Fifteen million five hundred fifty-seven thousand
2eight hundred eight dollars ($15,557,808) is hereby appropriated
3from the General Fund to be allocated in accordance with the
4following schedule:

5(a) Forty thousand dollars ($40,000) to the Department of
6Justice to pay the settlement in Doe v. State of California, Los
7Angeles Superior Court Case No. BC445151. Any funds
8appropriated in excess of the amount required for the payment of
9this claim shall revert to the General Fund.

10(b) Fifteen million five hundred seventeen thousand eight
11hundred eight dollars ($15,517,808) to the Department of Justice
12to pay the settlement in Ragatz v. State of California (CalFire),
13Solano Superior Court, Case No. FCSO38995. Any funds
14appropriated in excess of the amount required for the payment of
15this claim shall revert to the General Fund.

SEC. 2.  

This act is an urgency statute necessary for the
17immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety within
18the meaning of Article IV of the Constitution and shall go into
19immediate effect. The facts constituting the necessity are:

21and end hardship to claimants as quickly as possible, it is necessary
22for this act to take effect immediately.
