Existing law provides that, except as specified, every person confined in a state prison who commits an assault upon the person of another with a deadly weapon or instrument, or by any means of force likely to produce bodily injury, shall be guilty of a felony and punished by imprisonment in the state prison for 2, 4, or 6 years.
This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to these provisions.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
Section 4501 of the Penal Code is amended to
