Specifically, this bill : 1)Extends from December 31, 2014, to April 30, 2015 the deadline by which CJJDWG is required to recommend a plan to the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) for improving the current juvenile justice reporting requirements, including streamlining and consolidating current requirements without sacrificing meaningful data collection. 2)Requires that MIOCR grants be divided equally between adult and juvenile mentally ill offender crime reduction grants in accordance with the funds appropriated for each type of grant. 3)Reduces from four years to three years the amount of funding BSCC is required to award to counties receiving MIOCR grants. 4)Shortens the deadline from December 31, 2019, to December 31, 2018 by which BSCC is required to submit its final report to the Legislature on the MIOCR grant program, as specified. FISCAL EFFECT : According to the Assembly Appropriations Committee, no additional state or local cost. SB 1054 Page 2 COMMENTS : According to the author, "SB 1054 makes technical amendments to the Mentally Ill Offender Crime Reduction (MIOCR) Grant program which was re-established in the Budget Act of 2014-15. "The bill now shortens the timeframe of the MIOCR grant program from four years to three years; clarifies the funds are to be divided equally between juvenile and adult programs; and moves the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) reporting requirements from December 31, 2014 to April 30, 2015."
