          DIGEST:  This resolution designates a portion of State Highway  
          Route (SR) 18 in San Bernardino County as the Rim of the World  
          Veterans Memorial Highway.


          ANALYSIS:  

          This resolution designates the portion of SR 18 in San  
          Bernardino County, beginning at the intersection of SR 18 and SR  
          330 and continuing for 4.5 miles toward Big Bear Lake, as the  
          Rim of the World Veterans Memorial Highway.  This resolution

          further requests that the Department of Transportation erect  
          appropriate signs upon receiving donations from non-state  
          sources to cover the costs.  

          Comments

          Purpose.  The author introduced this resolution to honor  
          veterans.
          Background.  The author introduced this resolution at the  
          request of two veterans' organizations in his district to  
          recognize the sacrifices of the servicemen and women who reside  
          in the "Rim of the World" region, located in the mountains of  
          San Bernardino County.
