Assembly Concurrent Resolution No. 30—Relative to the Armed Forces.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL’S DIGEST

ACR 30, as amended, Irwin. Armed Forces Day.

This measure would honor and recognize the service and sacrifice made by members of the Armed Forces and their families on the occasion of Armed Forces Day on May 16, 2015.

P1    1WHEREAS, Armed Forces Day was created in 1949 in
2connection with the consolidation of the military services in the
3United States Department of Defense; and

4WHEREAS, The purpose of Armed Forces Day is to honor the
5men and women who are serving in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps,
6Air Force, and Coast Guard, including the National Guard and
7Reserve components; and

8WHEREAS, Armed Forces Day is celebrated on the third
9Saturday in May, which this year is May 16, 2015; and

10WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Forces have performed
11tremendous service on behalf of the United States; and

injuredbegin insert and killedend insert in operations to bring peace and stability in
3the name of democracy; and

4WHEREAS, All Americans appreciate the sacrifices of those
5who bravely serve our country, and acknowledge those businesses
6and employers that accommodate those service people who are
7called abroad to defend their nation; and

8WHEREAS, All Americans express their recognition and
9gratitude for members of the Armed Forces at home and abroad;
10now, therefore, be it

11Resolved by the Assembly of the State of California, the Senate
12thereof concurring,
That the Legislature, on the occasion of Armed
13Forces Day 2015;

14(1) Honors and recognizes the service and sacrifice that members
15of the Armed Forces and their families gave, and continue to give,
16to the United States;

17(2) Remains committed to supporting the members of the Armed
18Forces and their families;

19(3) Encourages Americans to show their support and
20appreciation for members of the Armed Forces on Armed Forces
21Day;

22(4) Commends the actions of private citizens and organizations
23who volunteer to support America’s wounded warriors; and

24(5) Expresses the gratitude of the American people to the
25members of the Armed Forces for their service on behalf of the
26United States; and be it further

27Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly transmit copies
28of this resolution to the authors for appropriate distribution.
