BILL ANALYSIS Ó ACR 30 Page 1 Date of Hearing: May 4, 2015 ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE ON RULES Richard Gordon, Chair ACR 30 (Irwin) - As Introduced February 24, 2015 SUBJECT: Armed Forces Day. SUMMARY: Honors and recognizes the service and sacrifice made by members of the Armed Forces and their families on the occasion of Armed Forces Day on May 16, 2015. Specifically, this resolution makes the following legislative findings: 1)Armed Forces Day was created in 1949 in connection with the consolidation of the military services in the United States Department of Defense to honor the men and women who are serving in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard, including the National Guard and Reserves. 2)Members of the Armed Forces have performed tremendous service on behalf of the United States; and, some have been injured and killed in operations to bring peace and stability in the name of democracy. 3)All Americans appreciate the sacrifices of those who bravely serve our country, and acknowledge those businesses and employers that accommodate those service people who are called abroad to defend their nation.
