          SUBJECT:  Kevin Woyjeck Memorial Highway.


          SUMMARY:  Designates a specific portion of Interstate 405  
          (I-405) in Orange County as the "Kevin Woyjeck Memorial  
          Highway."  Specifically, this resolution: 


          1)Recounts the lifetime accomplishments Kevin Woyjeck. 

          2)Designates a portion of I-405 between postmile 24.178 and 20.4  
            in Orange County as the "Kevin Woyject Memorial Highway."  

          3)Requests that the California Department of Transportation  
            (Caltrans) determine the cost of appropriate signs, consistent  
            with the signing requirements for the state highway system,  
            showing the special designation and, upon receiving donations  
            from non-state sources covering that cost, to erect those  
            signs.  

          EXISTING LAW:  Assigns Caltrans the responsibility of operating  
          and maintaining state highways.  This includes the installation  
          and maintenance of highway signs.  


          FISCAL EFFECT:  Unknown, but the measure requests that Caltrans

          only erect the appropriate signage upon receiving donations from  
          non-state sources covering the cost.


          COMMENTS:  Born in to a family with a long history of  
          firefighters, Mr. Woyjeck joined the Los Angeles County Fire  
          Department Explorer Program at age 15 and, later in high school,  
          became an emergency medical technician.  Mr. Woyjeck attained  
          extensive firefighter training attending firefighter courses at  
          Santa Ana College, El Camino College, and the Department of  
          Forestry and Fire Protection Academy.  On June 30, 2013, Mr.  
          Woyjeck along with nineteen other firefighters, as part of the  
          Granite Mountain Hotshots, lost their lives while fighting a  
          fire in Yarnell, Arizona.  This resolution designating a  
          specific portion of I-405 in between State Route 22 and  
          Interstate 605 in Orange County in honor of Kevin Woyjeck  
          acknowledges the significant role Mr. Woyjeck played in his  
          community and for his country.
