SUBJECT: CHP Officer William B. Wolff III Memorial
Interchange

DIGEST: This resolution designates the interchange at State
Highway Route (SR) 10, post mile 31.151, and I-605 in Los
Angeles County as the CHP Officer William B. Wolff III Memorial
Interchange. This resolution further requests that the
Department of Transportation erect appropriate signs upon
receiving donations from non-state sources to cover the costs.
ANALYSIS: This resolution designates the interchange at SR 10
and Interstate 605 in Los Angeles County as the CHP Officer
William B. Wolff III Memorial Interchange.

Comments
Purpose. The author introduced this resolution to honor the
life and service of CHP Officer William B. Wolff III.
Background on Officer Wolff. Officer Wolff was a licensed
vocational nurse and also served in the U.S. Navy. On August
13, 1973, Officer Wolff entered the California Highway Patrol
Academy and, upon graduation, was assigned to the Baldwin Park
area, where he served for approximately five years.
Officer Wolff was killed in the line of duty on December 30,
1977, while making a traffic stop along SR 10 in Baldwin Park,
when he was struck by a drunk driver. He is survived by his two
children and a granddaughter.
