ACR 89, as introduced, Wilk. Connie Worden-Roberts Memorial Bridge
This measure would designate the Golden Valley Road Bridge over State Highway Route 14 in the City of Santa Clarita as the Connie Worden-Roberts Memorial Bridge. The measure would request the Department of Transportation to determine the cost for appropriate signs showing this special designation and, upon receiving donations from nonstate sources covering that cost, to erect those signs.

P1 1WHEREAS, Connie Worden-Roberts demonstrated
2extraordinary service to the Santa Clarita Valley community and
3was known as the Santa Clarita Valley’s “Road Warrior”; and
4WHEREAS, Connie Worden-Roberts championed the
5development of the valley’s transportation network for nearly four
6decades, serving as the vice-chair of the City of Santa Clarita
7Formation Committee and serving on the city’s first planning
8commission; and
9WHEREAS, Connie Worden-Roberts also served as chairwoman
10of the League of Women Voters of Los Angeles County, founder
11of the Valley Industry Association, former chairwoman of the
P2 1board and director of the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of
2Commerce, and as a member of many more community
3organizations; and
4WHEREAS, Connie Worden-Roberts was an early visionary
5and tireless advocate for the Golden Valley Road Bridge project,
6knowing it was necessary to meet the needs of the growing valley;
7and
8WHEREAS, Connie Worden-Roberts passed away on August
912, 2014; and
10WHEREAS, Designating the Golden Valley Road Bridge over
11State Highway Route 14 in the City of Santa Clarita as the Connie
12Worden-Roberts Memorial Bridge would be an appropriate honor
13for this community champion; now, therefore, be it
14Resolved by the Assembly of the State of California, the Senate
15thereof concurring, That the Legislature hereby designates the
16Golden Valley Road Bridge over State Highway Route 14 in the
17City of Santa Clarita as the Connie Worden-Roberts Memorial
18Bridge; and be it further
19Resolved, That the Department of Transportation is requested
20to determine the cost of erecting appropriate signs, consistent with
21the signing requirements for the state highway system showing
22this special designation and, upon receiving donations from
23nonstate sources covering that cost, to erect those signs; and be it
24further
25Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly transmit copies
26of this resolution to the Director of Transportation and to the author
27for appropriate distribution.
