DIGEST: This resolution designates the interchange at
Interstate 10 and Interstate 710 in the County of Los Angeles as
the Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff Thomas H. Pohlman Memorial
Interchange.
Senate Floor Amendments of 8/29/16 correct an error in the
identification of the named highway.
Senate Floor Amendments of 8/19/16 revise the transportation
asset named for Deputy Sheriff Pohlman to the interchange at
State Highway Route 10 and Interstate 710.

ANALYSIS: This resolution designates the interchange at
Interstate 10 and Interstate 710 in the County of Los Angeles as
the Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff Thomas H. Pohlman Memorial
Interchange. The Department of Transportation is requested to
determine the cost of appropriate signs and, upon receiving
donations from nonstate sources sufficient to cover that cost,
to erect those signs.
Background
Thomas H. Pohlman was born on July 8, 1950, and was appointed as
a deputy in the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department on May
29, 1973. On April 19, 1978, Deputy Sheriff Pohlman was on
patrol approaching a suspected illegal drug manufacturing site.
During an altercation with a suspect, Deputy Sheriff Pohlman was
shot and killed.

and service of Thomas H. Pohlman.
