COMMENTS: The author seeks to honor two deputes of the San
Bernardino Sherriff's Department who were lost in the line of
duty over ten years ago. Specifically, Sheriff's Deputy Ronald
Wayne Ives was an eight-year veteran of the San Bernardino
Sheriff's Department. He graduated from the Sheriff's Training
Academy in 1996 and was eventually promoted and assigned to
Patrol at Rancho Cucamonga Station. Deputy Ives was lost in the
line of duty on September 1, 2004 in Rancho Cucamonga. While on
patrol a SUV ran a red light and struck his motorcycle at
approximately 50 miles per hour, and he later succumbed to his
injuries. He was an active pillar of his community, and was
survived by his wife Karen and son Blake.
Sheriff's Deputy Daniel Jess Lobo, Jr. served the San Bernardino
Sheriff's Department for 11 years. He graduated from the
Sheriff's Training Academy in 1994, and was assigned to the West
Valley Detention Center before he was promoted and assigned to
patrol at the Rancho Cucamonga Station in 1998. Deputy Lobo was
lost on October 11, 2005, while responding to an accident. He
was remembered for his devotion to his family, and was survived
by wife, Jennifer, and three daughters, Kiley, Kadie, and
Maddison.
