BILL ANALYSIS Ó AB 186 Page 1 Date of Hearing: April 22, 2015 ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC EMPLOYEES, RETIREMENT AND SOCIAL SECURITY Bonta, Chair AB 186 (Rendon) - As Introduced January 26, 2015 SUBJECT: State employees: memorandum of understanding SUMMARY: Ratifies the provisions of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the state and state bargaining unit (BU) 6, Corrections, represented exclusively by the California Correctional Peace Officers Association. EXISTING LAW requires, under the State Employee-Employer Relations Act (the Dills Act), collective bargaining agreements (MOUs) that are negotiated between the state and exclusive representatives of each of the 21 state bargaining units be ratified by the Legislature. FISCAL EFFECT: Unknown. COMMENTS: This is a spot bill that will be used to approve the final collective bargaining agreement reached this year between the state and BU 6. The current MOU will expire July 2, 2015.
