This measure would designate a portion of State Highway Route 49 in the County of Amador as the America’s Heroes-Veterans Memorial Highway. The measure would request the Department of Transportation to determine the cost for appropriate signs, as specified, and, upon receiving donations from nonstate sources covering that cost, to erect those signs.

P1 1WHEREAS, It is important to appreciate, admire, and honor
2the men and women who have served in the Armed Forces of the
3United States of America to protect and defend our country and
4the freedom, rights, and privileges enjoyed by all Americans; and
5WHEREAS, Nearly two million veterans reside in the State of
6California, and the County of Amador is home to many of these
7brave and honorable individuals; and
8WHEREAS, We should make it a priority to fully support our
9state’s veterans in ways that commemorate their great sacrifice;
10now, therefore, be it
P2 1Resolved by the Assembly of the State of California, the Senate
2thereof concurring, That the Legislature hereby designates the
3portion of State Highway Route 49 at Valley View Way post mile
4R7.298 to approximately post mile R10.560 before the Jay-D
5Ornsby-Adkins Bridge (bridge number 26-0043), located at post
6mile R10.576, in the County of Amador as the America’s
7Heroes-Veterans Memorial Highway; and be it further
8Resolved, That the Department of Transportation is requested
9to determine the costs of erecting appropriate signs, which would
10include this special designation, consistent with the signing
11requirements for the state highway system, and, upon receiving
12donations from nonstate sources covering the cost, to erect those
13signs; and be it further
14Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly transmit copies
15of this resolution to the Director of Transportation and to the author
16for appropriate distribution.
