SUBJECT: Americas HeroesVeterans Memorial Highway

DIGEST: This resolution designates a portion of State Highway
49 in Amador County as the Americas Heroes Veterans Memorial
Highway.
ANALYSIS: Existing law assigns Department of Transportation
(Caltrans) the responsibility of operating and maintaining state
highways including the installation and maintenance of highway
signs.
This resolution:
1)Designates a portion of State Highway Route 49 at Valley View

Way, from post mile R7.298 to approximately post mile R10.560
before the Jay-D Ornsby-Adkins Bridge (bridge number 26-0043),
located at post mile R10.576 in the County of Amador, as the
America's Heroes - Veterans Memorial Highway.
2)Requests that Caltrans determine the costs of erecting
appropriate signs, which would include this special
designation, consistent with the signing requirements for the
state highway system, and upon receiving donations from
non-state sources covering the cost, to erect those signs.
Comments
This resolution designates a portion of State Highway Route 49
as the America's Heroes -Veterans Memorial Highway," to honor
the men and women who have served in the United States armed
forces to protect and defend our country, including the nearly
two million veterans who reside in California and those in
Amador County.
