This measure would proclaim August 8, 2016, to August 12, 2016, inclusive, as Concrete Pipe Week.

P1    1WHEREAS, Reinforced concrete pipe and precast are of vital
2importance to sustainable communities and to the health, safety,
3and well-being of the people of California; and

4WHEREAS, Reinforced concrete pipe and precast products and
5services could not be provided without the dedicated efforts of the
6concrete pipe and precast industry manufacturers, professionals,
7engineers, managers, and employees who together are responsible
8for and must design, manufacture, distribute, educate, and supply
9concrete pipe and precast to public and private owners who in turn
10build, design, and maintain transportation infrastructure, water
11supply, water treatment systems, solid waste systems, and other
12structures and facilities essential to modern society; and

13WHEREAS, It is in the public interest for the residents, civic
14leaders, and children of California to gain knowledge and maintain
15a progressive interest and understanding of the importance of the

2California and across the United States; and

3WHEREAS, The year 2016 marks the 109th year of the
4American Concrete Pipe Association, which began as a means of
5exchanging ideas and establishing a high quality, standardized
6product, which the California Precast Concrete Pipe Association
7fully supports in both actions and deeds; now, therefore, be it

WHEREAS, The 11 precast concrete pipe plants in California
9employ over 2,000 employees and provide over 32 million dollars
10annually in tax revenues to the state, and have helped develop
11various projects, including the San Francisco 49ers’ Levi’s
12Stadium, the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit Drainage, and the
13Caltrans I-10 Emergency Bridge Replacement; now, therefore, be

15Resolved by the Assembly of the State of California, the Senate
16thereof concurring,
That in recognition of the substantial
17contributions the reinforced concrete pipe and precast industry has
18made and continues to make to the public health, safety, welfare,
19and quality of life in California, the week of August 8, 2016, to
20August 12, 2016, inclusive, shall be proclaimed Concrete Pipe
21Week; and be it further

22Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly transmit copies
23of this resolution to the author for appropriate distribution.
