Assembly Concurrent Resolution No. 185—Relative to Concrete Pipe Week.

ACR 185, as amended, Linder. Concrete Pipe Week.

This measure would proclaim August 8, 2016, to August 12, 2016, inclusive, as Concrete Pipe Week.

P1    1WHEREAS, Reinforced concrete pipe and precast are of vital
2importance to sustainable communities and to the health, safety,
3and well-being of the people of California; and

P2    1WHEREAS, Reinforced concrete pipe and precast products and
2services could not be provided without the dedicated efforts of the
3concrete pipe and precast industry manufacturers, professionals,
4engineers, managers, and employees who together are responsible
5for and must design, manufacture, distribute, educate, and supply
6concrete pipe and precast to public and private owners who in turn
7build, design, and maintain transportation infrastructure, water
8supply, water treatment systems, solid waste systems, and other
9structures and facilities essential to modern society; and

10WHEREAS, It is in the public interest for the residents, civic
11leaders, and children of California to gain knowledge and maintain
12a progressive interest and understanding of the importance of the
13reinforced concrete pipe industry to every community throughout
14California and across the United States; and

15WHEREAS, The 11 precast concrete pipe plants in California
16employ over 2,000 employees and provide over 32 million dollars
17annually in tax revenues to the state, and have helped develop
18various projects, including the San Francisco 49ers’ Levi’s
19Stadium, the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit Drainage, and the
20Caltrans I-10 Emergency Bridge Replacement; now, therefore, be
21it

22Resolved by the Assembly of the State of California, the Senate
23thereof concurring,
That in recognition of the substantial
24contributions the reinforced concrete pipe and precast industry has
25made and continues to make to the public health, safety, welfare,
26and quality of life in California, the week of August 8, 2016, to
27August 12, 2016, inclusive, shall be proclaimed Concrete Pipe
28Week; and be it further

29Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the Assembly transmit copies
30of this resolution to the author for appropriate distribution.
