1)Purple Heart Trail. Chartered by Congress in 1958, the
Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) is composed of
military men and women who have received the Purple Heart
medal for wounds suffered in combat. In 1992, MOPH worked
with Congress to establish the Purple Heart Trail as a
symbolic and honorary system of roads, highways, bridges, and
other monuments that give tribute to the men and women who
have received the Purple Heart medal.
2)Multiple segments already designated. Previously, the
Legislature has designated the following state highway
segments for inclusion in the National Purple Heart Trail:
a) The entire routes of Interstate 5 and Interstate 80 in
California (SCR 14, Oller, Resolution Chapter 79, Statutes
of 2001).
b) SR 101 from post mile 9.67 in Monterey County to post
mile 36.16 in Santa Barbara County (ACR 12, Blakeslee,
Resolution Chapter 84, Statutes of 2009).
c) SR 223 from SR 99 to SR 58, in the Kern County (SCR 105,
Florez, Resolution Chapter 95, Statutes of 2010).
d) SR 101 in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties (SCR 27,
Jackson, Resolution Chapter 88, Statutes of 2013).
