2)Designated the portions of SR 16, SR 20, and SR 45 in Colusa
County for inclusion in the National Purple Heart Trail.
3)Requested that the California Department of Transportation
(Caltrans) determine the cost of appropriate signs, consistent
with the signing requirements for the state highway system,
showing the special designation and, upon receiving donations
from non-state sources covering that cost, to erect those
signs.
FISCAL EFFECT: According to the Senate Appropriations
Committee, pursuant to Senate Rule 28.8, negligible state costs.
COMMENTS: The National Purple Heart Trail was established in
1992 to honor the men and women of the United States Armed
Forces who have been wounded or killed in combat. The trail
includes stretches of highway across the United States.
Numerous segments of California highways are designated as part
of the National Purple Heart Trail, including the entirety of
Interstate Routes 5 (I-5) and 80 (I-80), portions of SR 101 in
Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties,
and a portion of SR 223 in Kern County. This resolution adds SR
16, SR 20, and SR 45 in Colusa County to those routes designated
for inclusion in the trail in order to honor the men and women
who have been wounded or killed in combat while serving in the
United States Armed Forces.
