SUBJECT: California Nonprofits Day
SUMMARY: Designates June 22, 2016, as California Nonprofits Day
and recognizes the importance of nonprofit organizations to the
economy and well-being of this state. Specifically, this
resolution makes the following legislative findings:
1)Nonprofit organizations are a large and vital part of
California's economy, with nonprofit economic activity
contributing 15 percent, or one-sixth, of California's gross
state product.
2)Each year nonprofit organizations bring in at least $40
billion in revenue to California from out-of-state sources.
3)Nonprofit organizations rank as the fourth largest industry in
California by employment, with nearly one million people
employed by nonprofits, accounting for 1 in every 16
California jobs.
4)California's nonprofit organizations are national and

international groundbreakers and leaders in the environment,
in science, in safety net innovations, in civil rights, in the
arts and humanities, and in the pursuit of democratic ideals.
