BILL NUMBER: AB 214 INTRODUCED
BILL TEXT
INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Beth Gaines
FEBRUARY 2, 2015
An act to amend Section 29632 of the Government Code, relating to
local government.
LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
AB 214, as introduced, Beth Gaines. County charges: victims of
crime.
Existing law authorizes the legislative body of a county or city
to establish a program that provides reimbursement to innocent
residents whose property is injured as a consequence of the actions
of a peace officer detecting crime or apprehending or arresting a
person, or the actions of a person resisting or avoiding arrest.
This bill would make a nonsubstantive change to that provision.
Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 29632 of the Government Code is amended to
read:
29632. The legislative body of a county or of a city may
establish a program which that provides
for the reimbursement of any innocent resident of the county or
city, as the case may be, whose property is or has been at any time
subsequent to a date designated by the legislative body injured or
destroyed as the consequence of:
(a) An act of a peace officer in the detection of crime or the
apprehension or arrest of any person for any public offense; or
(b) An act of a person in resisting or avoiding arrest.
