An act to amend Section 830 of the Penal Code, relating to peace officers.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL’S DIGEST

AB 247, as introduced, Waldron. Peace officers.

Existing law designates which persons are peace officers, and provides that no person is a peace officer if not so designated.

This bill would make a technical, nonsubstantive change to that provision.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.  

Section 830 of the Penal Code is amended to

Any person who comes within the provisions of this
4chapter and who otherwise meets all standards imposed by law on
5a peace officer is a peacebegin delete officer, and notwithstanding any other
6provision of law, no person other than thoseend delete
begin insert officer.
7Notwithstanding any other law, only a personend insert
designated in this
8chapter is a peace officer. The restriction of peace officer functions

2for purposes of retirement.
