AB 302, as introduced, Cristina Garcia. Pupil services: lactation accommodations.

Existing law requires every employer to provide a reasonable amount of break time to accommodate an employee desiring to express breast milk for the employee’s infant child. Existing law requires the employer to make reasonable efforts to provide the employee with the use of a room or other location, other than a toilet stall, in close proximity to the employee’s work area, for the employee to express milk in private. Existing law establishes the California School Age Families Education Program, which is a comprehensive, continuous, and community linked school-based program that focuses on youth development and dropout prevention for pregnant and parenting pupils and on child care and development services for their children.

This bill would express the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would respect and uphold the rights and education opportunities of pregnant and parenting pupils, including providing lactation accommodations.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.  

It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
