AB 433, as introduced, Chu. Public social services: CalWORKs.
Existing federal law provides for the allocation of federal funds through the federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) block grant program to eligible states, with California’s version of this program known as the California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) program. Under the CalWORKs program, each county provides cash assistance and other benefits to qualified low-income families and individuals.
This bill would express the intent of the Legislature to provide a grieving period and appropriate referrals to services when a CalWORKs recipient miscarries or when a child in the home of a CalWORKs recipient dies, without interruption of services.
