An act to add Section 826.8 to the Welfare and Institutions Code, relating to juveniles.

AB 592, as amended, Mark Stone. Juveniles: proof of dependency or wardship.

Existing law provides that a minor may be adjudged a dependent child or a ward of the juvenile court under specified circumstances. Existing law authorizes the court to place a minor who has been removed from the custody of his or her parent or guardian in foster care, among other placements. Existing law provides for the termination of the juvenile court jurisdiction when the minor reaches a specified age.

This bill would authorize the State Department of Social Services to provide to a person who was previously adjudged a dependent or ward of the juvenilebegin delete court andend deletebegin insert court, wasend insert placed in foster care,begin insert and whose dependency or wardship has been dismissed,end insert upon request by that person, thebegin insert information included in theend insert proof of dependency or wardship document, as specified, or any information necessary to provide verification that the person was formerly a dependent or ward of the juvenile court and placed in foster care.
