   An act relating to peace officers.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   AB 671, as introduced, Medina. Peace officers: county deputy
coroners.
   Existing law makes deputy coroners peace officers for the purposes
of performing their primary duties if their primary duties are
inquiring into and determining the circumstances of specified deaths.

   This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation authorizing, but not mandating, county deputy coroners to
become full-time peace officers.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation authorizing, but not mandating, county deputy coroners to
become full-time peace officers.
