SUMMARY:
This bill establishes in statute the Secretary of State's
(SOS's) Voting Accessibility Advisory Committee (VAAC) for
purposes of making recommendations to improve the accessibility
of elections for voters with disabilities.

FISCAL EFFECT:
Absorbable costs to the SOS, as the bill is consistent with
current functions of the advisory committee, with support
provided by the office.
COMMENTS:
Purpose. According to the SOS, the VAAC has conducted much
valuable work. For example, the committee has provided input on
many voting-related projects and issues, including the polling
place accessibility guidelines, checklist, and training video;
voting system accessibility; a confidential voter accessibility
survey; the online voter registration application system, and
the accessibility of online election materials.
