AB 843, as introduced, Hadley. Public Employees’ Retirement System: public information.

The Public Employees’ Retirement Law (PERL) prescribes the rights and benefits of members of the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS), the management and control of which is vested in its board of administration. The California Public Records Act generally requires state and local agencies to make public records available for inspection by the public, subject to specified criteria.

This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that improves the methods by which the Public Employees’ Retirement System delivers information to the public, that more fully reflects the information practices of the system, and that provides for delivery of information that better satisfies the public’s need to understand its operations.

Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.  

It is the intent of the Legislature to enact

3Employees’ Retirement System delivers information to the public,

2and that provides for delivery of information that better satisfies
3the public’s need to understand its operations.
