SUMMARY:
This bill merges two similar provisions in the Alcoholic
Beverage Control Act that authorize the dissemination of
information regarding retail availability of alcoholic products,
one which pertains to on-sale retailers and one which pertains
to off-sale retailers. As a result of merging the two
provisions, information regarding "other electronic media"
(i.e., other than email addresses and websites) may be
disseminated for off-sale retailers.
FISCAL EFFECT:

Minor and absorbable enforcement costs to the Department of
Alcoholic Beverage Control.
COMMENTS:
Purpose. According to the author, alcohol suppliers
increasingly reference Facebook fan pages and other social media
sites of retail locations when marketing their products. This
measure will harmonize the rules for on-sale and off-sale
retailers and allow dissemination of retail information on new
media platforms for all types of retailers.
